Body parts that may be a missing 9-year-old Hasidic boy have been found at two locations in Brooklyn and police early today arrested one man in connection with the case, sources tell The Post.

The gruesome finds were made at a commercial trash bin on 20th Street and Fourth Avenue and about 2 miles away at Avenue C and 2nd Street this morning, but police would not confirm that the remains are those of Leibby Kletzky, who disappeared Monday while on his way to meet his parents.

Sources say a man was arrested in connection with the case just after 4 a.m. but further details were not immediately available. The Yeshiva World website reported that police stormed a Kensington home not far from where Kletzky was last seen, and that the suspect was removed under heavy escort.

Daily News:

An 8-year-old Brooklyn boy who vanished while walking home alone from camp was found dead in a dumpster in Park Slope early Wednesday morning, police sources said.

More than a dozen NYPD detectives swarmed the scene outside the Park Slope Auto Center at 651 Fourth Ave. where the dismembered remains of little Leiby Kletzky may were discovered. Sources said the body was found after police in a passing patrol car checked the large gray trash container, which had its lid open.

Authorities converged on a home in the Kensington section of Brooklyn this morning in the investigation of a missing 9-year-old boy.  Sources say the FBI and NYPD kicked in a door at the home at East 2nd St. and Avenue C and took two people — a man and a woman — into custody.  Police say no arrests have been made so far.

Police want to know more about a man  little Leiby Kletzky was seen following Monday afternoon.   A video surveillance camera on 18th Ave. shows the boy going with the man who is described as white and wearing black pants and a white shirt.  Witnesses tell police Kletzky may have gotten into a gold car with the man.

The 9-year-old had been begging his parents to let him walk  home alone from camp and Monday was the first time Kletsky did so, but he veered off course, and appears to be lost according video viewed by police.

“Everyone’s thinking the worst and hoping for the best,” said Shmuel Eckstein, 44, a friend of Leiby’s father told the Daily News. “He’s a very good kid. He’s an angel. He has no rebellious streak to him.”

NYPD continues to search the neighborhood by helicopter and door to door. Agents from the FBI’s New York office also joined in the search.

The Shomrim neighborhood patrol provided dozens of members and arranged for more than a hundred volunteers to join the hunt.

  1. so sad

  2. This is very tragic and an upsetting outcome.

What I really want to comment on though is kind of off this topic. I just think it is interesting how in this case, less than 48 hours after the boy’s disappearance, there was surveillance video released to the public in order to assist with the search and information regarding a gold car in the video possibly being involved. There are supposedly several surveillance cameras that captured Lauren Spierer the night she disappeared, but we have seen a couple blurry pictures from those videos. Why?

    • What’s your point?

      • My point is. . . While yes these are 2 very different scenarios, there are also drastically different approaches taken by the Brooklyn police and the Bloomington police. And as we see, Lieby has been found and the man responsible arrested while Lauren is still missing. . .

You also have to wonder if it is just a difference in police strategy, or is there another reason that Bloomington police feel they can’t release any video. . .

  3. Ive wondered the very same things.

  4. How to have faith in such a God that stands by idly while a little child is …. sick , sick , sick, http://wp.me/p1EZoW-h6

  5. God bless this poor little boy and heaven help his parents. It’s incomprehensible how they can cope with this news – it’s beyond horrific. The monster is lying, lying – all self-serving lies about how he didn’t do anything to this child, just innocently took him to a wedding and then got nervous so he killed him. Yeah, baloney. This was a fledgling Jeffrey Dahmer. Good riddance to you!

  6. obviously the brooklyn police and the community were definately up on their game.. the people who had some sort of clue whether it be survellance or just from anothers mouth came forward and provided everything they could. And the police acted quickly and smartly, using their skills wisely.maybe its because those people actually have some sort of decency and humanity– where as the friends of lauren speirer are just a bunch of cowards and cant take the consiquences and the one’s who do hold the clue/answers are not good enough ppl to come forward. The lack of morals, the decency, humanity and just down right the lack of doing the right thing for everyone. The truth will set you free..why live with that for the rest of your life? Or make the loved ones suffer more?…. Because someone would JUST NOT TELL THEM THE TRUTH. So there could be closure and a reason to take a step forward to heal. Maybe the police or some sort of higher power in the town of bloomington are protecting themselves or another. or just maybe the person that did it is right in front of their faces but they just cant figure out how to catch them. maybe they need to step up their investigative skills. If only there was a Gill Grissom or an Heratio Cain more cases would be solved.
