Levi Aron Murder Confession Transcript

Police Probe Slaying of Brooklyn Boy

WNBC News York has obtained as transcript of the confession of Levi Aron.  WNBC says it has been edited to remove parts of an extremely graphic nature, but has not been edited for clarity. These are the suspect’s words as written on a legal pad during questioning, according to law enforcement sources.

My name is Levi Aron… On Monday evening around 5:30 I went to my dentist, Dr. Sorcher, to make a payment for visit for exam routine.

A boy approached me on where the Judaica book store was.  He was still there when went out from the dentist’s office. He asked me for a ride to the Judaica book store.  While on the way he changed his mind and wasn’t sure where he wanted to go.

So I asked if he wanted to go for the ride — wedding in Monsey — since I didn’t think I was going to stay for the whole thing since my back was hurting.  He said ok.

Due to traffic, I got back around 11:30 p.m. … so I brought him to my house thinking I’d bring him to his house the next day. He watched TV then fell asleep in the front room. I went to the middle room to sleep. That next morning, he was still sleeping when I was ready to leave.

So I woke him and told him I’ll bring him to his house… when I saw the flyers I panicked and was afraid.  When I got home he was still there so I made him a tuna sandwich….

Afterwards — I panicked because I didn’t know what to do with the body.… carried parts to the back room placing parts between the freezer and the refrigerator …

… went to clean up a little then took a second shower.  I panicked and .. Then putting the parts in a suitcase.  Then carrying suitcase to the car …placing in backseat on floor behind passenger side.

… drove around approximately around 20 minutes before placing it in the dumpster on 20th street just before 4th Avenue.   Then went home to clean and organize.

I understand this may be wrong and I’m sorry for the hurt that I have caused.

  1. Something is so, so wrong with this man. “I understand this may be wrong.” This is chilling. I assume his family knew something was very off with him?

  2. Sooo he panicked, bc he was being nice to a boy who asked him for help. Yeah, right. Wonder what really happened??

  3. So he took the kid to a wedding that night? What did the people at the wedding think?

  4. The part about the wedding sounds like a lie. It’s interesting the details he chooses to tell (dental exam, details of disposing of the body) and the huge omissions (what exactly really happened)…sounds like this guy was a pedophile from the accounts in some news stories…one also mentions that his father has been described as religious and domineering and works in a Manhattan photo store…

  5. Dentist office open at 5:30?
    Monday night wedding?
Didn’t this guy live wth his parents? Where were they at?

  6. eh…his defense will fly in the casey anthony jury and the guy will walk free in 4 years.

  7. this is a pretty good example of psychopathic train of thought. he’s able to run through a list of activities but he ‘seems’ unable to process the moral/social implications of his behavior. I wouldn’t be surprised if the defense starts claiming “insanity” very early into this case.

    • to add to the previous.. what really struck me (or completely creeped me out, if you will) was his admission of disposing of the suitcase in the dumpster then nonchalantly coming back home to “clean and organize”.

    • He IS insane. He could have disposed of the boy in one piece. Instead he chops him up and puts parts in the freezer. Definitely off the deep end!

  8. “…when I saw the flyers I panicked…”

I am sure that when the total tale of Lauren Sperier’s disappearance is finally told, it will include something of a defense as this man offered.

I am also sure that we will think about that reasoning, then, just as we think about this proffered excuse, now: hogwash.

  9. No reason the confession is totally true. The man is clearly mentally sick and unbalanced. It is frightening that there are people like this out there.

I cannot imagine the little boy not wanting to call his parents or wanting to spend that kind of time with a new found stranger, so I do not believe a lot of what is said in the confession.

That he panicked and in his warped mind decided to get rid of the boy, unfortunately, I think is likely. The police seem to believe this too.

The horror of this is just too much.

  10. Mind boggling. I can’t even attempt to understand the thought process of someone like this. Of course he’ll be declared incompetent to stand trial.

  11. I wonder if he actually drove the boy to a wedding at all. His statement is obviously self-serving and full of half truths, and possibly a large dose of fantasy. (I can believe that the boy asked him where the bookstore was—perhaps his mother told him to use it as a landmark)—but I’m sceptical that he would ask a complete stranger for a ride, and then say ‘ok’ to going to a wedding. So he never asked to be taken home directly?)
The man is obviously disturbed. I hope he ‘only’ suffocated the boy, and that he’s impotent. I wonder too what the Hasidim attitude is to modern treatments of mental illness. But perhaps like most Americans, his familty simply couldn’t afford to pay for his treatment.

  12. Sounds like the whole story is a lie. Lots of “panic” going on also. The bottom line is, the guy molested the kid, and didn’t want to leave a witness.

  13. A boy was lost so he decides to go on a joy ride and hangout with him instead of going to police or anyone to help him? If he really is this sheltered from the world his parents should be held just as responsible unless he really is mentally handicap. The fact his mind resorted to killing he should never be free. Does not explain why he kept his feet in the freezer. Sounds like he had a little boys foot fetish. Their is no other explanation. You have to wonder what was he planning on doing with his feet as he didn’t discard them. He didn’t need to dismember his body at all. So his story to me is bogus.

Obviously there is something very wrong with him. I think I read last night he was once married and loved her two kids. They should question those kids. I have a hard time thinking he did nothing with them. In fact that marriage was strange that she said they were like brother and sister. Maybe he was in it for those kids. You have to wonder.

Police don’t believe his story. I have a hard time with that too considering other people would have saw him in public with a kid and no one reported it when this went public? They also believe he died on Monday not Tuesday like he is claiming. Poor little boy what were the chances he walked upon that monster? So tragic. RIP

  14. Are there pictures from the wedding? This is a small connected group of people and I would think that someone at the wedding would have known about the missing boy and noticed him. The story isn’t making sense.

  15. He panicked when he saw the news so instead of returning the boy he killed him? What?! I think it’s more like he had already killed the boy, and when he saw the news he panicked on what to do with the body.

Doesnt he live with his parents? Where were THEY in all of this?

  16. He is pleading not guilty!!! How is this even possible?! I guess it presumes an insanity defense. SO WRONG!

  17. From what I read police looked into the wedding and there was nothing to support his claim as of yet. They believe he killed the boy Monday. So his story seems completely bogus. Apparently, his parents live downstairs. I’m trying to figure out how he got the kid upstairs to begin with. No one saw this I guess.

  18. I think something was off with both the man and the boy. The combination turned out to be deadly. The man is mentally ill, severely so and may have a lot of other issues as well such as Aspergers, cognitive disabilities and panic disorders. What happened in his brain to make him decide to kill the boy, we’ll never understand. And then the grisly cutting up of the body, is way beyond what people even slightly outside the norm can stomach.

Because he seemed to clearly know what was wrong by his actions and reasons for them, the insanity plea is not going to work for him. Insane or not, someone like this man, needs to be kept out of society. He is definitely a dangerous person regardless of what caused this psychotic break .

I am stunned and sickened by what happened here, and frightened as well, that people like that can stay dormant in our midst.

    • “… Aspergers, cognitive disabilities and panic disorders.”

Huh? Who diagnosed that? (link?) Please let’s not guess on specific disorders on here. No doubt, he has issues, but it’s nicer to wait on a professional to diagnose.
Ya know, your neighbor may have Aspergers, a cognitive disability, or panic DO – this, in itself, does not make one murder and dismember a body.

      • Neighbors? How about family members? Absolutely, not one of those things are high risk for this sort of thing. Anyone who would deliberately kill another person, has something so very sick and dangerous in the mix that I wish we could identify it.

      • Thank you, A., — that made my mouth drop open too. Talk about non-sequiturs! I tutor children with Aspergers, ADHD, and other learning disabilities. That was quite a leap you made, g! Your medical qualifications are….?

      • UseLogic ….. ‘g’s medical qualifications are acquired through the Wife’s Club of Stepford, NY. ……..It really ticked me off.

      • I took g’s comment to mean perhaps Aron is mentally ill *and* developmentally disabled. I can understand that assumption, considering there are accounts of people in his life describing him as “mentally slow” *and* “emotionally disturbed.” Personally, I did not take g’s comments to mean that developmentally disabled people are at greater risk of harming others.

      • That was a horrible comment about cognitive disorders etc… yes, he is mentally ill, but why say he has cognitive disorders as well. Bill gates, Albert Einstein, Mozart, Darwin, newton, all have Aspergers–not sure they have been cutting people for free time. That was just a horrible ignorant comment.

  19. So horribly sad…I can’t imagine that if indeed the little boy was left alone all day Tuesday, that he wouldn’t have used the phone to call his parents….
To many holes in this story…..will be interesting to see what a Psychiatrist has to say of this man.
